Art And Ecology
a collaborative work with
IAIN BAXTER& &

Marshall Mcluhan's "the medium is the message" has a logical corrolary; the work's quality gives the message its credibility. Vision, skill and effort bring respect, while a perfunctory job convinces no one. The medium is the message, but the intentional message is also the message; the personal is as important as the public, the intrinsic as important as the extrinsic.

Artists cannotnot remain silent in light of today's threast to the ecology. Adding text to an image blurrs the edges of visual language but it's proven effective in marketing. A viewer drawn to the visual will long consider the written word.

Art And Ecology series end

Art World Ecology
a collaboration with
IAIN BAXTER&

This collaboration between artists IAIN BAXTER& & Mikidot is similar to Rauschenberg‘s “Erased DeKooning Drawing", but instead of erasure there's additions, an origami of images and ideas. The artists share ownership of the work and follow their inclination. As a painter Mikidot ( Miklos Legrady) does the paintings; as a conceptual artist Iain Baxter& influences the work through emails and phone conversations. Still, we’re walking on thin ice.

Here conceptual art blends with painting to see what happens next. In visual art just as in music we become aware of conversations within conversations; we experience patterns, sequences, bridges, opposition and harmonies, we feel melodic, periodic, or melancholic as the work moves us. Music is a language, an acoustic language, just as visual language describes things whose subtlety is lost when explained in words. Since the intellect is but one mode, that of verbal language, art touches another level when it includes that which cannot be explained.

The political course of this work is informed by BGTQ positivity and cultural diversity. These large cardboard paintings speak of artists navigating a cultural system and how they address institutional mindsets, authoritarian networks, flawed philosophies, and power imbalances. These paintings not only let us see the art world differently, they call our attention to how we feel about it.
